Member Appreciation in Eastern Idaho
On August 5th the second annual Idaho AGC member appreciation BBQ was held at Tautphaus Park in Idaho Falls. Jerry Jensen of Jensco, Inc. sponsored the event. Along with his wife Barbara and son Tyrel, he grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for over 40 members. Barbara’s home-made treats topped off the event. They also had a member appreciation BBQ at Alameda Park in Pocatello on August 6th. Jerry and his family plan on making these annual events for Idaho AGC members.
U.S. Small Business Administration News Release: HUBZone Fact Sheet
The SBA had concerns about the HUBZone program, based on a performance review of its operations and has examined the program more closely. This examination uncovered several problems and challenges; as soon as the agency discovered the problems, it moved swiftly to take corrective action. The SBA initiated a wide-ranging review of the program. In the meantime, the Government Accountability Office and SBA’s Office of Advocacy also began reviewing the program. The agency welcomed those inquiries and their recommendations.

Troubleshooting Concrete Floors on Ground
Introducing a program which goes into depth exploring the 2008 fourth edition of
PCA’s Concrete Floors on Ground by Scott M. Tarr, and James A. Farny. This
program will cover the design, construction, and repair of concrete floors on ground
for residential, light industrial, commercial, warehouse, and heavy industrial
buildings. The emphasis will be on attaining the best possible balance among
service requirements, costs, and maintenance. Participants will each be given a

Changes In Lead Paint Handling Laws Coming Soon
Federal law requires that individuals receive certain information before renovating more than two square feet of painted surfaces in housing, child care facilities and schools built before 1978. Also, beginning April 2010, federal law will require contractors that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and schools, built before 1978 to be certified and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
